Finally, a Peter Jackson film that doesn’t involve hobbits, dragons or giant gorillas.
I don’t know about you, but I was a fan of Peter Jackson before he got into the over-done epics of Lord of the Rings and King Kong, which have dominated his career for the last decade.
Watching the trailer for The Lovely Bones was kind of like seeing an old friend come back. The film looks to return Jackson back to his earlier films, such as the excellent The Frighteners, and maybe even Heavenly Creatures.
Here’s the synopsis: On her way home from school on a snowy December day in 1973, 14-year-old Susie Salmon is lured into a makeshift underground den in a cornfield and brutally raped and murdered, the latest victim of a serial killer—the man she knew as her neighbor, Mr. Harvey. From heaven, Susie keeps watch over her grieving family and friends, as well as her brazen killer and the sad detective working on her case.
The film stars Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli.
