‘Sisters’ is raunchy, raw and rather entertaining

Given what we’ve seen Tina Fey and Amy Poehler accomplish over the past few years; given even a mediocre script, the expectation would be a funny film when the two are the leads in a project.  Sisters, a film from the very talented director of Pitch Perfect  (I’d have given it a better review than TailSlate’s other critic did) does a bit better than just funny.  Probably because screenwriter Paula Pell knows how to use both words and visuals to generate laughter.

Welcome to the latest meeting of the SNL alumni and the Adam Sandler acting company (some of the players are members of both groups).  This time the setting for their gathering is a sequel to one of Sandler’s earlier films.  That’s a first for Sandler, a sequel to one of his films.

Jennifer Westfeldt works wonders with ‘Friends With Kids’

Jennifer Westfeldt is a serious talent.

Writer and star of 2001’s Kissing Jessica Stein and 2006’s Ira & Abby, this time in addition to doing double duty as screenwriter and star, she also steps behind the camera to produce and direct.

I searched the credits for anything else she might have done in the making of this gem, but apparently those four roles were enough to keep her busy.
