Daniel Day-Lewis eerie as ‘Lincoln’ in new poster

Understated treatment shows off his penny-like profile as our 16th President

Lincoln lives.

20th Century Fox has released the first official poster for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film about the 16th President of the United States.

The posted features a simple profile of Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, and bears such an uncanny respemblence to the assassinated Commander-in-Chief that it’s downright eerie.

Don’t think I’ve been this excited to see a Spielberg film in quite a few years. The story is one the director has been angling to make for a long time, and it will be great to see what he’s done with the project.

Lincoln is based mostly on “Team of Rivals,” the book by Doris Kearns Goodwin, and focuses mostly on the last months of his life at the end of the Civil War.

What do you think of Lewis’ Lincoln-esque appearance?
