Tail Slate recasts ‘Three Men and a Baby’ as it turns 30 years old

It was the surprise #1 box office hit of 1987, rocketing past the year’s other $100 million movies, Fatal Attraction, Beverly Hills Cop II and Good Morning Vietnam.  Three Men and a Baby starred Tom Selleck, Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg as the three single men who wind up caring for a baby dumped on their doorstep.

Selleck portrayed an architect, Danson an actor and Guttenberg a cartoonist.  Nancy Travis, currently part of the cast of ABC’s “Last Man Standing” played “Sylvia” the mother of the baby.  Cynthia Harris plays the landlord of the male trio..

The three were major stars at the time.  Tom Selleck was nearing the end of his run in “Magnum, P.I.” while Ted Danson was at the height of his popularity in “Cheers.”  Steve Guttenberg had broken through in 1984 with Police Academy and followed that up a year later with Cocoon.

So who do we choose to star in our remake?

Steven Guttenberg and Tom Selleck in ‘Three Men and a Baby’ and don’t you just love the product placement of the Ultra Pampers?

How about Channing Tatum to replace Selleck?

Channing Tatum will replace Tom Selleck but he clearly needs to work on that moustache

And who better than someone who has portrayed a comic book character on the big screen to play a cartoonist?

Andrew Garfield in ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ is well-suited to play a cartoonist

Ted Danson plays an actor.

We couldn’t think of an actor in the right age range who is known for portraying an actor on television or in the movies, so we went with this guy instead.

James Franco who has taught filmmaking

We loved Nancy Travis as the mother of the titular baby.

We immediately thought of this woman.

Amy Poehler in ‘Baby Mama’

That leaves Cynthia Harris, who played the landlord, “Mrs. Hathaway

So who should be re-cast in this role?  You tell us.
